Lord Syron was the lord of Castle Macindaw. He had a son named Orman. He also had an illegitimate nephew, Sir Keren.

History[]

Lord Syron eventually became Lord of Castle Macindaw, although it is unknown if he was promoted to the position or inherited it. He had at least one sibling, whom would eventually produce an illegitimate son named Keren. By the time he gained this nephew, Syron had already married and had a son named Orman.

Before The Sorcerer in the North starts, Keren had been slowly poisoning Syron, using a poison that produces the same symptoms as the poison from the old legend of the sorcerer Malkallam. Most people assumed Lord Orman had poisoned his father; Sir Keren was an affable and respected figure, whereas Orman was generally unpopular, being more a scholar than a warrior.

Syron died from the poisoning during The Siege of Macindaw, imprisoned in his own castle.

Personality[]

Lord Syron was said to be a good man, implying that he had a kind personality. It is assumed, however, that he was also strong and commanding, being Lord of Macindaw, a castle holding great strategic importance due to its proximity to the border of Picta and its role in opposing Scotti raids in Norgate fief.

Syron may distrusted Keren, as he refused to reward Keren for his services, causing resentment in the knight. It is unknown what Syron's standing with Orman was, but Orman was greatly saddened when his death was revealed, suggesting a bond had existed between the two.
